Captain Hayley Matthews produced another batting masterclass with a quick-fire century, but it was in a losing cause as the West Indies women crashed to an 8 wicket defeat to England in the first game of their three match T20 International series at the Spitfire Ground in Canterbury on Wednesday.

Matthews belted an even hundred with 16 fours and a six as the Windies were restricted to 146 for 7 in their 20 overs.

Shabika Gajnabi 11 and Mandy Mangru 17 were the only other batters to reach double figures as Lauren Bell bagged 2-wickets.

Matthews hopes she can maintain her good form throughout the tour.
