Mayor of Kingston, Andrew Swaby, is hitting back at critics from the Jamaica Labour Party, JLP, calling for the allocation of additional resources from the Kingston and St Andrew Municipal Corporation, KSMAC.
Mayor Swaby made reference to a 2020 resolution by People’s National Party, PNP, councillors who called for an increase in the funds distributed to councillors for rehabilitation of parochial roads.
He said the JLP councillors were not in favour of the resolution.
Speaking at the East St Andrew campaign rally on Wednesday, Mayor Swaby says he is clearing the debt left by the previous JLP-led KSAMC administration.
And Mayor Swaby says his administration is to be credited with transforming the Papine Market.
The market was renovated earlier this year.
Swaby says he’s building a legacy for constituents in Kingston and St Andrew.
Meanwhile, Mayor Swaby says his desire is to be under the leadership of a PNP-led local government ministry.
