National senior football team coach, Steve McClaren, is warning his players not to underestimate the counterparts from St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
The Reggae Boyz and the Vincy Heat are set to meet in the first leg of the Concacaf Gold Cup Preliminary round, on Friday.
On the road to France, Jamaica played St. Vincent and the Grenadines in the semi-final round of World Cup Qualifying, both games took place in 1996.
Jamaica defeated St. Vincent and the Grenadines 2-1 away 5-0 at the National Stadium.
Meanwhile, the last time the Reggae Boyz played away to the Vincy Heat was in July 2000. Jamaica won that game 1-0.
However, McClaren warns those results are in the pass.
Jamaica is ranked at 62nd in the world, while St. Vincent and the Grenadines is ranked at 173rd.
McClaren says despite the gap in the rankings between the two teams the Reggae Boyz can’t afford to be complacent.
