THE STAGE is set for the eighth edition of the Munro College Old Boys Association (MCOBA)/Lindy Delapenha Golf Classic, with one lucky golfer standing a chance to drive away in a brand new 2025 Nissan X-Trail E-Power for a hole-in-one on the 10th hole at Caymanas Golf and Country Club.

Scheduled for Saturday, June 7, the tournament tees off with a shotgun start at 8:00 a.m., drawing local and overseas golfers for a day of competitive play while supporting the development of young athletes at Munro College.

At the recent launch held at Fidelity Motors’ Nissan Showroom on Hanover Street, organisers revealed that CG United Insurance will cover the insurance cost for the grand prize winner.

“This is the second time Fidelity Motors is offering a car as the main prize, and we’re thrilled with the continued support from sponsors and golfers,” said Victor Tomlinson, president of the MCOBA.

“With over 80 players expected, including overseas participants, this year’s event promises to be one of the best yet.”

The tournament serves as a key fundraiser for Munro College’s sports programmes, inclusive of football, track and field, hockey, tennis, and basketball.

“Sports shape character and discipline in young men,” Tomlinson emphasised.

“We’re grateful for sponsors like Keller Williams, Fidelity Motors, CG United, and others who help us nurture future leaders.”

Rochelle Wint, marketing director at Keller Williams, highlighted her company’s longstanding commitment.

“Our founders are Munro Old Boys, so supporting this cause is personal. Sports development is vital, and we’re proud to contribute year after year.”

Deborah Stewart, general manager of Fidelity Motors, praised the event’s impact.

“We believe in initiatives that foster excellence and community spirit. The MCOBA’s dedication to youth development is inspiring, and we’re honoured to be part of this legacy.”

The tournament pays tribute to Lindy Delapenha, a renowned Jamaican sportsman who excelled in golf, football, and track and field.

Competitors will battle in Stableford format, with categories for ladies, men, men’s senior, and men’s super-senior.

Major sponsors include Keller Williams, Fidelity Motors (Nissan), JMMB, CG United Insurance, Regency Petroleum, JamGas, Jamaica Inn, Spanish Court Hotel, and Jewel Paradise Cove Resort & Spa.
