Meet Sara-Dee Palmer, Miss Supranational Jamaica 2025

3 months ago 19

During her reign as Miss Supranational Jamaica 2025, Sara-Dee Palmer is on a mission to increase support for the female-focused beauty competition and encourage more young women to participate.

The competition has been held in Jamaica since 2009, but last year, its franchise was acquired by the well-known directors of Miss Universe Jamaica, Mark McDermott and Karl Williams, who have been involved with the event for 11 years.

“What we want to do is to make it more well-known, so we want to work on the brand itself here,” Palmer, who also serves as the National Coordinator for Miss Universe Jamaica, briefly told The Gleaner during an interview on Sunday, at the AC Hotel Kingston.

As a lover of art and the owner of two brands – Aura Sphere Jamaica, a handcrafts business, and Potful Expressions, which specialises in customised lucky bamboo pot plant sets – Palmer plans to showcase Jamaica’s culture even more when she sets foot in Poland this June.

She said, “I’m looking forward to representing Jamaica in the best way possible,” adding that she aims to showcase Jamaican culture through her actions, highlighting the warm vibrancy of the local people and demonstrating how the country is “likkle but tallawah.”

“We’re all the things combined – beauty, brains, courage [and] resilience, everything combined,” she added.

When asked how she felt about winning the Miss Supranational Jamaica competition late last year, Palmer said she felt amazing.

“What better way than representing my country on an international platform. What more could I ask for?”

She proudly shared during the interview that she grew up along Old Stony Hill Road in St Andrew, surrounded by lush greenery rather than a crowded urban space. She was raised in a dynamic household with her parents, sister, cousins, and nephews, where she learned the values of love, togetherness, and oneness.

She studied accounting with a minor in management studies at the University of the West Indies, Mona, and is currently pursuing her certification in accounting with AACAs. It was during her time at university, while going through a rough phase, that she started her art business, Aura Sphere Jamaica, which she now considers to be her passion.

“I needed an outlet and accounting is pretty monotonous, but I really brainstormed what it was that I could do to really pull forward my creativity, and relieve some of my anxiety, and I just got a dream one day, and God gave me the idea, I got up and I literally taught myself to perfect the art,” Palmer said.

Palmer is also a fitness enthusiast, which is a key requirement of the competition. She is focused on getting in top shape to represent Jamaica on the international stage at the 16th edition of the Miss Supranational pageant, set to be held on June 27 in Małopolska, Poland.
