The Met Service has issued a yellow level adverse weather alert for Trinidad and Tobago from 9:20 am today, Sunday 24 August 2025, until 5 pm on Monday 25 August 2025.

In its advisory, the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS) said there is a high chance, 70 percent, of isolated heavy showers and thunderstorm activity associated with the passage of a tropical wave located near 56W to 57W at 8 am today.

The most impactful weather is expected from as early as 10 am, particularly in eastern Trinidad and then Tobago.

Impacts include temporary traffic disruptions, street and flash flooding, localised ponding, and gusty winds near heavy downpours.

According to the Met Office:

“These winds may displace loose outdoor items, agitate seas and topple unstable trees. Landslides and landslips are possible in areas prone.”

The TTMS noted that these conditions and impacts are not expected to be continuous over the period.

It advised the public to secure loose outdoor objects, take necessary precautions to mitigate potential impacts, and avoid floodwaters.

Citizens are urged to monitor official weather updates at www.metoffice.gov.tt.
