Defending champions Mexico and Costa Rica have booked their spots to the quarter-finals of the Concacaf Gold Cup in the United States.

Cesar Montes scored two second half goals for Mexico in their 2-0 win over Suriname in Texas, to go to the top of group ‘A’ with the maximum of six points.

Costa Rica also move to six points, but second on goal difference, following a 2-1 win over the Dominican Republic.

Meanwhile, Jamaica will stage their final training session on Thursday, ahead of Friday’s crucial showdown with Guadeloupe in San Jose, California.

The game, which is set for a 6:30 pm kickoff, is a must-win for Jamaica after they lost Monday’s opener 1-0 to Guatemala to be third in the group.

Midfielder Karoy Anderson, who helped Charlton gain promotion to the Championship in England, trained with the team on Tuesday after he was called up as an injury replacement.

Anderson says he’s eager to play his part to move the team forward.
