CAUGHT AT the wire by UNSPUN in the Henry W Jaghai Trophy at six furlongs on May 3, UNBELIEVABLE FORCE should redeem herself in Saturday’s Millard Ziadie Memorial, going a half-furlong shorter, among overnight-allowance winners.
Cruising into the lane on a near seven-length lead, American UNBELIEVABLE FORCE looked all set to notch her fifth win from 10 starts after losing by a length in a driving finish to former grade-one MAHOGANY 12 days earlier when pointing at the top of the lane at five and a half furlongs.
However, the four-year-old filly shut down rapidly with the post fast approaching, falling victim to fellow American UNSPUN, a mean closer, treated with Lasix after eight starts and three wins.
Champion and leading rider Raddesh Roman replaces claiming rider Tajay Suckoo, armed with much experience aboard UNBELIEVABLE FORCE, having partnered the filly in all but her last start.
Drawn wide at post-position 13 in a 14-horse line-up, UNBELIEVABLE FORCE should quickly circle the field, which includes stablemates MAGNIFICENT FORCE and IMPRESSIVE OFFICER from A. C. K. Stables’ arsenal of Philip Feanny-trained foreigners.
UNBELIEVABLE FORCE shouldn’t have much worry on the lead. Her main dangers, GIRVANO, MAGNIFICENT FORCE, and IMPRESSIVE FORCE, prefer middle-distance races and should be left flat-footed leaving the half-mile marker.
Speedy local-bred MONEY MARKET is drawn widest, alongside UNBELIEVABLE FORCE, but is too heavy, topweight 126lb, to make a race of it against the powerful foreigner carrying 117lb.
