Mrs. Patricia Chin, O.D., Co-founder of VP Records, the world’s largest Reggae label, was awarded a prestigious citation last Thursday afternoon, February 26, 2026 at the Jamaican Embassy in Washington, D.C. at the closing of Black History and Reggae month, by Major General (Ret’d) Anthony Anderson, Jamaica’s Ambassador to the United States.

As a Pioneer with more than 65 years in the international music industry, the legendary Ms. Pat, by which she is more fondly known, grew her small family business, Randy’s Record Mart at 17 North Parade in Kingston, Jamaica, which was the Reggae Mecca for young talented Jamaican musicians of the 1960s and 70’s. Now at VP Records, in Queens, New York, Ms. Pat continues to market and distribute Ska, Rocksteady, Reggae and other music genres on a global scale in a male dominated industry.

With an intimate gathering of approximately 200 people, Ms. Pat stood balanced with pride and humility as a stalwart in her cause, of having created a lasting legacy for generations and her family.
