The Miss Universe Belize Foundation Limited has confirmed that it will no longer hold the Miss Universe Belize franchise, following a decision by the Miss Universe Organization to grant the franchise to an organization based in El Salvador. In a press release issued today, the foundation said it had initially intended to take a brief pause following the events of 2025, with plans to return and resume operations in 2027. However, according to the organization, the Miss Universe Organization ultimately decided to award the Belize franchise to an external entity. The foundation described the development as “deeply disheartening,” citing the years of dedication and hard work invested by sponsors, delegates, former queens, volunteers, and supporters in elevating the standard of pageantry in Belize. The organization highlighted what it described as significant achievements over the years, including providing mentorship, resources, and opportunities for delegates, while maintaining transparency and integrity in the management of sponsor and organizational funds. The foundation also emphasized the impact it has had on the personal growth and development of contestants, many of whom have gone on to become leaders, role models, and ambassadors for Belize. It further noted that it intentionally created opportunities for local creatives, entrepreneurs, and small businesses to participate in and benefit from its activities. Despite losing the franchise, the foundation says its commitment to excellence, ethical business practices, and the empowerment of Belizean women remains unchanged. Meanwhile, Miss Universe Belize 2025, Isabella Zabaneh, will continue to be available for appearances, speaking engagements, brand partnerships, community events, and marketing opportunities. The Miss Universe Organization has not yet publicly commented on the change in franchise ownership or announced further details regarding the new entity that will oversee the national pageant in Belize.
