Miss Universe Jamaica 2025, Dr. Gabrielle Henry, has been hospitalised in Thailand after a frightening fall from the main stage during the evening gown segment of the Miss Universe preliminary competition. The incident occurred just days before the highly anticipated finals, sending shockwaves through the global pageant community and prompting an immediate response from the Miss Universe Jamaica Organization.
In an official statement, the organisation confirmed that Dr. Henry was rushed to the Paolo Rangsit Hospital, where doctors assessed her condition and confirmed she is not facing any life-threatening injuries. Medical teams continue to run additional tests to ensure her full recovery. “We kindly ask everyone to stay upbeat, lift her in prayer, and send positive thoughts as she receives the necessary medical care,” the organization stated, thanking supporters for their outpouring of love.
Dr. Henry travelled to Thailand on November 4 carrying not only Jamaica’s hopes for the crown, but also the weight of a country recovering from Hurricane Melissa — the most devastating storm in the island’s history. A practising medical doctor known for her humanitarian outreach, she had been working closely with hurricane-affected communities in the days leading up to her departure. “I’m not leaving Jamaica behind — I’m carrying her with me,” she said before boarding her flight, vowing to use the pageant’s global platform to amplify the voices of those still suffering at home.
Her participation in the 74th Miss Universe Pageant has been widely seen as a symbol of Jamaican resilience. Despite the recent accident, fans worldwide continue to rally around her, sending prayers and messages of strength as she undergoes treatment in Thailand. As the finals approach, supporters remain hopeful about her recovery and the possibility of her returning to the competition stage.
For now, the Miss Universe Jamaica team says the primary focus is her health. The organisation promised further updates as doctors continue to monitor her condition, while Jamaicans and pageant fans alike await word on what’s next for the beloved titleholder.
