Dr. Gabrielle Henry, Jamaica’s representative to the 2025 Miss Universe pageant, remains in the intensive care unit days after suffering a serious fall during the evening gown segment of the preliminary competition in Thailand. Doctors have advised that she will need to remain in the ICU for at least seven days as specialists continue close monitoring and treatment.

Her sister, Dr. Phylicia Henry-Samuels, who is in Thailand with their mother, said the family is trying to stay hopeful but acknowledged that Henry’s condition has been difficult. “Gabby isn’t doing as well as we would have hoped, but the hospital continues to treat her accordingly,” she said in an update shared with the Miss Universe Jamaica Organisation.

The organisation reiterated its concern and renewed calls for both local and international support. It urged Jamaicans at home and across the diaspora to continue keeping Henry in their prayers, while encouraging friends and supporters worldwide to lift her “in love, strength, and hope.” It also appealed for compassion online, asking the public to avoid speculation, misinformation, or comments that could add distress for the family.

Henry’s injury occurred on Wednesday, Nov. 19, when she missed a step while walking across the stage in an orange evening gown and fell from the platform. Video clips of the incident later circulated on social media, followed by footage showing her being taken from the venue on a stretcher. She was rushed to Paolo Rangsit Hospital in Bangkok, where doctors initially confirmed that she had no broken bones but required continued evaluation.

Miss Universe owner Raul Rocha visited Henry and her family shortly after the incident, telling followers that she was “under good care.” The Miss Universe Jamaica Organisation also confirmed that while her injuries were not immediately deemed life-threatening, doctors were conducting additional tests to ensure a full recovery.

The Miss Universe finals proceeded this week, with Mexico’s Fátima Bosch crowned Miss Universe 2025. Henry, meanwhile, continues to receive round-the-clock medical care as her family and supporters wait for further updates on her condition.
