A release from the family of Dr Henry, disseminated by Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport Olivia Grange on Thursday, said Dr Henry's fall resulted in injuries to her head, chin and foot.

"The fall resulted in head trauma, requiring her admission to the intensive care unit (ICU) at a hospital in Thailand. Jamaica's representative also sustained a laceration to her chin and foot," said the release, adding that Dr Henry withdrew from the competition on medical advice. "Despite these injuries, Dr Henry's resilience, indomitable spirit, and unwavering commitment to representing Jamaica remain strong. However, based on medical instructions, Dr Henry had to withdraw from the competition."

The family expressed gratitude to supporters around the world for their prayers and well wishes, sharing that they are "optimistic about her full and speedy recovery, and have asked for continued prayers as she remains in hospital".

The release further stated that Dr Henry is being supported in Thailand by her mom, Maureen Henry, and sister, Dr Phylicia Henry-Samuels.

The 74th Miss Universe competition has faced several challenges. Two judges resigned within 24 hours: Lebanese-French composer Omar Harfouch and French football manager and former professional player Claude Makélélé.

Additionally, PEOPLE magazine published a story on Wednesday stating that Princess Camilla di Borbone delle Due Sicilie, the president of the Miss Universe selection committee, had also dropped out as a judge.

Their departures followed controversy at a pre-pageant ceremony when Miss Universe Thailand Director, Nawat Itsaragrisil, publicly reprimanded Miss Universe Mexico during the sash ceremony, prompting several contestants and then reigning queen Miss Universe 2024 Victoria Kjær Theilvig, to walk out in solidarity. Miss Universe President Raul Rocha said that Itsaragrisil’s conduct was unacceptable and that his role in official Miss Universe activities would be restricted. Itsaragrisil apologised the following day.
