Missing Police Constable Kenyon Barrow Found Alive After 35 Days

After being reported missing thirty-five days ago, Police Constable Kenyon Barrow was located in Orange Walk this morning at around ten-thirty. The twenty-four-year-old is alive and well, according to ASP Stacy Smith. But while his discovery brings relief to his family, Barrow could be out of a job. Smith says he had been absent without leave since July 30.

ASP Stacy Smith, Belize Police Department: “PC Barrow was identified on surveillance footage at a location that he was known to frequent prior to his disappearance. Upon learning this police were immediately dispatched to the location where he was successfully located. While PC Barrow appears to be in relevantly well physical condition he is receiving medical treatment as a precaution. The circumstances surrounding his disappearance have not yet been established and remain a matter of further inquiry.”

Reporter: Is he still on active duty ? 

ASP Stacy Smith, Belize Police Department: “He was only discovered this morning at the time as I reported last time he was reported as having abandoned his post. There is ap procedure that is relative to that The paramount consideration right now is the health and wellbeing of Mr. Barrow and we are very grateful that his mother in particular and all those persons as well as the department that care about him are able to rest a bit easier now knowing that he is in custody and we are prepared o provide the assistance that he needs on his road to recovery. We are providing him allowing him to get the medical treatment that he needs and after we cross that hurdle we will seek to inquire further information and advise the general public as it becomes necessary to do so.”

Barrow was reported missing on September 17 after his family lost contact with him earlier that month. His disappearance prompted a search involving police officers, Belize Defence Force soldiers, relatives and volunteers. Before he was reported missing, the department had made several attempts to reach him but those attempts were unsuccessful.  Barrow was attached to the Orange Walk Police Formation.
