A mother and her six-year-old daughter were injured after their car plunged about 200 feet down a precipice near the San Fernando Hill this afternoon.

Around 4.10 pm, the gold-coloured Nissan Tiida went over the edge near the Haji Shaffick Rahaman Park.

Fire officers from the Mon Repos station rescued six-year-old Isabella Byer, who suffered minor bruises to her face and feet and complained of pain in her right arm.

Her mother, who has not yet been identified, also complained of pain to her arms.

Police and crime scene investigators were at the scene as rescue efforts continued.
