Another member of Arnett Gardens Football Club is set to join the Montego Bay United (MBU) Football Club.
Former Arnett assistant coach, Garnett Lawrence, is to start the Wray and Nephew-sponsored Jamaica Premier League 2025-26 season as assistant coach of MBU.
The announcement was made in a press release sent out by MBU on Tuesday.
Lawrence will join newly appointed head coach Xavier Gilbert.
According to Yoni Epstein, chairman of MBU, this addition will get the team to where it needs to be.
“Building a championship team starts with the technical team and as we as a club get better, so will they. We have a solid team with Coach Dillon Thelwell long-time assistant coach of MBU, goalkeeping coach Loxley Reid and Omar Schoonhoven as strength and conditioning coach. These additions will get us to where we need to be," said Epstein.
In addition, he stated, “Garnett has consistently demonstrated strong leadership, strategic vision, and a genuine ability to elevate the teams he works with," adding “we are excited to have him a part of our leadership as we pursue excellence in the coming season."
In his new role, Lawrence will assist coach Gilbert in all aspects of MBU's programme, including player development, game strategy, and community engagement.
For his part, Lawrence said, “I’m honoured to join Montego Bay United FC and look forward to working with our talented players and dedicated staff.
“I believe in building a programme grounded in hard work, mutual respect, and pursuit of our goals together.”
MBU will officially start pre-season training in early July, with the first match under new leadership set for August 24, the season opener for the 2025–26 Jamaica Premier League campaign.
