I’m putting in the work. That’s the response of North Central Clarendon member of parliament, MP, the Jamaica Labour Party’s, JLP, Robert Morgan, to the recent poll by Bluedot Insights that shows him holding a 12 point lead over the People’s National Party’s, PNP, Aujae Dixon.
Morgan says the 2024 local government elections revealed some flaws within the JLP’s election machinery, which have since been addressed.
The Bluedot pollsters visited the constituency in June. They asked 400 registered voters who they would vote for in the general election.
Thirty-two-point-two per cent of the voters indicated that they would vote for Robert Morgan. Twenty-three-point-five per cent said Dr. Dixon.
That gives Morgan a lead of 11.7 percentage points. The poll has a margin of error of 5 per cent.
Morgan says he’s also ensuring that his achievements and work in the constituency are being properly communicated.
Meanwhile, Morgan says he holds no ill-will towards Councillor Romaine Morris following his acrimonious exit from the JLP to join the PNP in 2024.
Morris, the councillor for the Mocho division, was able to retain his seat in the local government elections after making the transition.
Morgan says he has no knowledge about Morris’ rumoured desire to return to the JLP.
