Soulful reggae singer-songwriter Mortimer said he is feeling an overwhelming sense of gratitude after receiving news that he has been nominated for a Grammy Award, the music industry’s most coveted recognition.

Mortimer is nominated for a Best Reggae Album Grammy for his debut album, From Within.

The news reached the Lightning singer while in Grenada, where he is preparing to perform alongside fellow Jamaican artistes Protoje and Sevana, along with a stellar line-up of Grenadian and other regional acts, at the Grenada Caribbean Music Festival (GCMF) set for today in the Spice Isle.

Mortimer said he is feeling extremely grateful for the recognition, expressing thanks to his peers and the Recording Academy’s voting members for seeing the value in his craft.

“Art is not something we do; it’s something we get to do,” he said, adding, “I feel honoured that the industry found it fit to recognise me and my team. I am grateful that people find value in the work that we do.”
