Morvant Police Youth Club celebrates perfect SEA pass rate

Eighteen students have successfully completed the Morvant Police Youth Club’s SEA PUSH programme, with organisers celebrating a fifth consecutive year of a 100 per cent pass rate in the initiative.

The programme, led by Police Constable Greer Stephen and Corporal Avinash Narine, provides remedial after-school classes for students preparing for the Secondary Entrance Assessment (SEA). It is designed to assist pupils who score below 30 per cent in practice examinations by offering additional academic support to improve their performance and increase their chances of securing placement at their preferred secondary schools.

A graduation ceremony was attended by senior officers of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), who congratulated the students on their achievement.

Member of Parliament for Laventille East/Morvant Christian Birchwood encouraged the students to continue proving that success can come from Morvant. Birchwood also urged parents to remain committed to investing in their children’s future, saying the efforts made today would benefit future generations.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Natasha George encouraged the students to remain focused as they transition to secondary school, while Assistant Commissioner of Police Vena Butler praised them for their accomplishments.

Senior Superintendent Claire Guy Alleyne said she was pleased with the programme’s continued growth and reaffirmed her commitment to ensuring it remains a key initiative within the North Eastern Division.

Assistant Superintendent Natalie John, founder of the PUSH programme, congratulated the graduates and recognised the efforts of Stephen and Narine in delivering another successful year. In her role as an executive member of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service Social and Welfare Association, John also presented the students with books and other school supplies for the new academic term.

Superintendent Nigel Birch thanked parents for their commitment to ensuring their children attended the classes and commended the youth club leaders for their dedication. Birch also assured the students that the TTPS would continue supporting them throughout their secondary school journey.
