A Morvant man was kidnapped and robbed of his Hyundai Tucson on Tuesday night in Santa Cruz.

Police said the 28-year-old man of Cicada Street, Morvant, was driving his grey SUV along Saddle Road, Santa Cruz, around 9 pm, when a white Nissan Tiida collided with him near the WASA Station.

As the victim pulled to the side of the road, exited and walked to the rear of the vehicle to assess the damage, the driver of the other vehicle walked over and placed him in a choke-hold before a plastic bag was put over his head.

The victim reported being dragged to the suspect’s car, following which he was beaten about the body before another man demanded he hand over his valuables.

He handed over a card holder containing bank cards; an Apple iPhone 12 valued at $2,500, and $1,500 in cash.

The victim claimed he was taken to a location where he was made to sit and wait before being forced into a car and taken to another location, and ordered out.

He managed to remove the bag from his head and realised he was not too far from where he had been robbed, but his car was missing.

He claimed to have hitched a ride back to Morvant, following which he sought medical attention at the hospital.

A car fitting the description given to the police was later recovered in the St James area.
