A man was injured in a road traffic incident in Ladyville this morning. Reports are that just before eight o’clock, 22-year-old Arnold Tillett was driving his motorcycle near the Puma Gas Station when he collided with a white SUV. He was knocked off during the collision and was transported via ambulance to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital around 8:15. Love News understands that his injuries were not life threatening. Commissioner of Police Dr. Richard Rosado says that the number of traffic incidents on the highway, both fatal and non-fatal, remains a concern for the department, and efforts are being made to address it.

Dr. Richard Rosado, Commissioner of Police: “I do believe that driver’s discipline, driver’s education is a big factor contributing to these minor accidents or accidents on the road. I think it is, while it is one of our responsibility to address as law enforcers it also lies, the responsibility also lies on the drivers. Well any fatal traffic accident, whether it’s with a motorcycle, whether it’s with a vehicle, it is a concerned to us as law enforcers. And we do believe that in addressing the fatal accident, it is both discipline, it require both the driver discipline as well as the enforcers. But what I can say is that we have been doing a lot in terms of addressing the fatal traffic accident. We have now put our highway interdiction team across the four major highways across in Belize and we should see a major reduction in the fatalities within the country of Belize.”
Police are investigating to determine if anyone will be charged in connection with the incident.
