Motorists traveling in the Cayo District next weekend are being advised to exercise caution as oversized steel truss segments are scheduled to be transported for the Santa Familia Bridge Project. A public notice from the Ministry of Infrastructure Development and Housing (MIDH) announced that extra-wide steel truss sections will be moved from Georgeville to Santa Familia Village on Friday, June 12, and Saturday, June 13. The transportation is part of ongoing works for the construction of the new Santa Familia Bridge. According to the Ministry, each load measures approximately twenty feet in width and may occupy more than one lane of traffic during transit. The oversized loads will depart Georgeville at 9am and travel east along the George Price Highway to the roundabout at the Spanish Lookout Road intersection before proceeding through Spanish Lookout and along the Spanish Lookout–Bullet Tree Road to the project site in Santa Familia. Two trips are scheduled for each day. The ministry urges motorists to remain vigilant and to follow all traffic management measures that will be in place along the route. Drivers traveling in the opposite direction may be required to pull off the roadway at certain points. Officials are advising the public to reduce speed, watch for traffic escorts, obey warning signs, and follow instructions from traffic managers throughout the operation.
