In a ruling from the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) competition’s committee today, Mount Pleasant Football Academy has been fined $25,000 for exceeding the number of foreign players allowed on a match card in the Jamaica Premier League (JPL).
However, the club was found innocent of the allegation of fielding ineligible players, namely Angelo Exilus and Jeudy Johnson, as the committee found both players had legally transferred to the club during the international window.
Johnson and Exilus had signed with Mount Pleasant in January, but had represented Real Hope in the Concacaf Champions Cup in February outside of the transfer window, in breach of FIFA regulations.
The competition’s committee ruled the available documents proved both players were registered to Mount Pleasant and as such, the blame should fall on their former club, Real Hope.
