Member of Parliament, MP, for Western Hanover, Tamika Davis, is confident she’ll retain her seat in the upcoming general elections, despite stiff competition from the opposition People’s National Party, PNP.
Davis is a first time MP.
Tamika Davis defeated the PNP’s Ian Hayles in the 2020 general elections by 1,029 votes. In the process she became the first Jamaica Labour Party, JLP, MP in Western Hanover for 31 years.
She’s set to be challenged by the PNP’s Heatha Miller-Bennett come election day. Miller Bennett and her team are confident of victory especially after the PNP won all four divisions in the constituency at the last local government election.
But Davis says the JLP has moved to repair the damage.
Meanwhile, Ms Davis says she welcomes recent PNP defectors Craig Oates and Kenroy Calame. Oates and Calame have publicly announced that they’ve switched sides.
Davis believes both men will assist the JLP’s victory charge.
