The local entertainment practitioners and aspirants are about to gain insight on the music industry’s evolution with the launch of ‘Music Mastery: Empowering the Sound Industry’, a one-day workshop designed to provide practical knowledge, creative insights, and strategic connections.

Scheduled to take place both in-person and online, at a date to be announced, the free workshop is offering “access and flexibility for a diverse cohort of participants ranging from artistes and producers to managers, promoters, and music entrepreneurs”, a press release states.

With the support of the Creative Caribbean Project, and powered by a shared vision to uplift the region’s creative economy, the Music Mastery Workshop is being positioned as “a movement that will equip creatives with the knowledge and tools, as well as the additional network needed to thrive in today’s fast-changing music landscape”.

Four key thematic areas will guide the day’s sessions, covering practical business and financial tools for the modern music professional, creative skill-building in production and cultural expression, collaboration etiquette, intellectual property rights and legal frameworks and the impact of emerging technologies on music distribution.

“We’re empowering creatives not just to make music, but to own it, understand it, and build sustainable careers from it,” said Headline Entertainment Managing Director Jerome Hamilton, one of the organisers. “Music Mastery is about equipping a new generation of industry professionals with the full 360-degree perspective from artistry to entrepreneurship.”

They all have several years of experience in commercial and corporate matters, intellectual property, civil litigation and in the entertainment industry.

The workshop is open to emerging and independent artistes, songwriters, composers, artiste managers, producers, engineers, and studio professionals across the region.

Participants will walk away with greater insights relevant to the music industry, enhanced artistic capacity, a deeper understanding of intellectual property rights and music ownership, and stronger connections within the industry through meaningful community partnerships.

The programme is funded by the ACP EU Culture Programme and implemented by UNESCO, the CARICOM Secretariat, and The University of the West Indies.
