The National Assembly of Belize has formally announced the start of its third parliamentary recess for the 2025–2026 legislative year, temporarily pausing sittings of both the House of Representatives and the Senate. According to a public notice issued by the Office of the Clerk of the National Assembly, the recess officially commenced on Wednesday, December 17, and is scheduled to conclude on Wednesday, January 28, 2026. The announcement is made in accordance with Standing Order 11 of the House of Representatives and Standing Order 9 of the Senate, that govern parliamentary sittings and recess periods. During this recess period, no regular sittings of the National Assembly are expected, unless an extraordinary meeting is convened under the Constitution or relevant standing orders. Parliamentary recesses are a routine part of the legislative calendar and allow members time for constituency work, committee preparation, and administrative planning ahead of the next sitting. The Assembly is expected to resume full legislative activity at the end of January 2026, when lawmakers return to Belmopan to continue debate and consideration of national matters.
