The National Assembly Marks International Day of Parliamentarism with New Digital Platform. The National Assembly of Belize today joined parliaments around the world in observing the International Day of Parliamentarism 2026, reaffirming its commitment to democracy, representation and public service under this year’s global theme, “Bring Human Rights into Focus.” As part of the observance, the National Assembly officially launched its newly redesigned website, www.belizeparliament.com, aimed at making parliamentary information more accessible to the Belizean public. The upgraded online platform features a more modern, user-friendly design intended to improve public access to legislative information, parliamentary proceedings and other official resources. The launch forms part of the National Assembly’s broader efforts to strengthen transparency and public engagement by making it easier for citizens to stay informed about the work of the country’s legislature. In recognition of the international observance, the National Assembly also closed its offices today, Tuesday, June 30, allowing staff to participate in activities marking the occasion. Normal operations are scheduled to resume on Wednesday. The International Day of Parliamentarism is observed annually on June 30 to highlight the vital role parliaments play in promoting democratic governance, accountability and the protection of human rights around the world.
