JAMAICAN international Jordan Kellier has secured his first professional contract with Slovakian club BK Iskra Svit. The move comes after he ended his collegiate season with the West Chester Golden Rams averaging 12.8 points and 10.7 rebounds per game.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to even play professional basketball. As a kid coming from Jamaica you wouldn’t believe that all these things would eventually come to fruition. I just want to give the most high all the praise as I’m extremely grateful and looking forward to it,” he stated.

Kellier also played at various colleges throughout his tenure including the likes of Siena College, University of Utah and Williston State College. He shared that those experiences have given him enough knowledge of the game to be able to hit the ground running in his professional career.

“It sets me up in many different ways because my collegiate journey was a roller coaster. I went to multiple different schools and it not only taught me about the game of basketball but the journey of life. God’s timing is always the perfect timing and whenever he stays it’s time, it will happen. I’m well prepared going into the chapter of my career,” he added.

The former Jamaica College standout ended his collegiate season as the All-PSAC East Division Defensive Player of the Year. Listed at six feet, four inches and 220 pounds, Kellier who plays the forward position argued that while his offensive game is a threat for any opposition his defensive work is second to none.

GREAT REBOUNDER

“The strongest area of my game, I would say, is rebounding the basketball. I’m a great rebounder and I have a great motor as I can play very hard. It all depends on the coaching staff’s instructions to me so it comes down to being versatile and being able to play different positions,” he added.

Based on conversations with his agent, Kellier revealed that they both agreed that at this time playing in the Slovakian league was the right choice.

“I trust my agent (Nikola Pesic) and he put in the time and effort. We both sat down and agreed that BK Iskra Svit was the correct pick for me based on where I wanted my career to go. I want to get to the top and they’re playing in a very respectable league. I trust my agent and what he believes in,” Kellier shared.
