National Police Youth Cadet Camp Opens in Dangriga

Young police cadets from across Belize have gathered in Dangriga for the 27th Annual National Police Youth Cadet Corps Summer Camp.  The Belize Police Department officially opened the 2026 camp this morning with a ceremony attended by police officers, instructors, parents, guardians and community partners.  The Mayor of Dangriga welcomed the participants and inspected the cadets during the ceremony. Dylan Williams, Director of Policy and Planning at the Ministry of Human Development, delivered the guest address, focusing on the role young people can play in building safer and stronger communities.  The camp is being held under the theme, “Command with Honor, Inspire Action, Teaching Young Minds for a Successful Tomorrow.” Over the next several days, the cadets will take part in physical training, marching drills and other activities aimed at building discipline, confidence, teamwork and leadership skills. The programme is also intended to teach participants about responsible citizenship and community service.  Commissioner of Police Dr. Richard Rosado told the cadets that leadership starts with self-discipline and making the right decisions, even when no one is watching.  The National Police Youth Cadet Corps was established in 1994 and has since worked with thousands of young people across Belize.
