NCFC Asks Belizeans to Wear Blue for Anti-Human Trafficking Campaign

The National Commission for Families and Children, NCFC, is asking the country to wear blue tomorrow as part of its ongoing Blue Teddy Bear Campaign and Anti-Human Trafficking Awareness activities. Throughout July, Belizeans are being encouraged to wear blue every Friday as a show of solidarity with efforts to protect children and vulnerable persons from exploitation, abuse and human trafficking.  The campaign has already received support from several organizations and members of the public. During the first week, Prime Minister John Briceño joined the initiative by wearing blue and visiting The Ice Cream Shoppe, which partnered with the campaign to create a special Blue Teddy Bear Ice Cream. The Belize Family Life Association, Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, students and other groups have also participated by wearing blue.  NCFC is now encouraging workplaces, schools, families and other organizations to join the national effort tomorrow and for the remaining Fridays in July. Participants are also being asked to take photographs while wearing blue and share them on social media, tagging NCFC Belize and UNICEF Belize, or submit them to the NCFC for publication on its platforms.  The Commission says each show of support helps raise awareness about trafficking in persons while reinforcing the collective responsibility to safeguard children and other vulnerable members of society.
