DR BRIDGET Adams, president and regional director of Americas Netball, has thrown her support behind the Men’s Netball Association of Jamaica (MNAJ) ahead of the fourth staging of its InterCaribbean Male Netball Premiership.
Adams praised the competition for its inclusion of international players this year, a major milestone for the league and the growth of the men’s sport in the region.
“On behalf of Americas Netball, we are extremely delighted of the success and progress of the Male Netball Premiership League in Jamaica. Having held this prestigious tournament for the last three years, we are excited of the significant step by expanding in your fourth year to include international players,” she said.
“The inclusion of international players further underscores the tournament’s commitment to excellence and diversity. I am delighted by the vision and concept of the organisers and I am pleased to offer my best wishes as you grow closer to your goals.”
Adams stated the milestone is a major mark of success for the MNAJ as well, after the Jamaica Suns triumph at the Americas Netball Men’s Regional Championships last year.
“Following Jamaica’s successful title defence in the 2024 Americas Netball Men’s competition, this notable milestone in the growth of our sport aligns perfectly with our ongoing efforts to promote men’s and boys’ participation,” the association boss said.
The MNAJ has secured a new title sponsor for the competition this year, entering an agreement with InterCaribbean Airways.
Ricardo Grant, chairman of the MNAJ, said the relationship ensures the association is able to provide a sustainable environment for the sport to continue to grow in Jamaica.
“We are grateful for our partnership with InterCaribbean Airways for the fourth edition of the premiership. The addition of top Caribbean players to our tournament is a significant milestone, and we are excited to showcase their talents,” Grant said.
“As chairman, I am proud to lead a team that consistently strives for excellence. Our commitment to delivering a world-class sporting experience remains unwavering, and we look forward to another thrilling season.”
The InterCaribbean Male Netball Premiership is set to run for four weeks, totalling four match days with two games on each day. The competition’s finale is scheduled to be held on March 16.
