President of Netball Jamaica, Karen Baugh, revealed that the association is in need of a financial boost to assist the country’s under-21 team to the upcoming Netball Youth World Cup set for Gibraltar, from September 19- 28.
Baugh says the government and the Jamaica Public Service has already given assistance but there’s still a gap to be filled to the tune of over $10 million.
This year’s staging of the Youth World Cup is the first since the 2017 edition. Jamaica are two-time medalist at the tournament having won bronze in 2013 and silver in 2000.
According to the president, while they face financial challenges, the preparation of the team hasn’t been affected.
