Netflix and iHeartMedia Strike Major Video Podcast Deal, Bringing The Breakfast Club and More to Streaming

Netflix and iHeartMedia have announced a multi-year exclusive video podcast partnership that will bring more than 15 popular podcasts to Netflix beginning in early 2026, marking another major step in Netflix’s push beyond traditional film and television.

Among the most notable titles included in the deal is the influential hip-hop and culture podcast The Breakfast Club, alongside major hits such as true crime favorite My Favorite Murder and Chelsea Handler’s advice show Dear Chelsea. The agreement will feature new video episodes as well as select library content, with an initial rollout in the United States, followed by expansion into international markets.

While financial details were not disclosed, the move underscores Netflix’s growing investment in video podcasts as it seeks to diversify its content slate and compete more directly with YouTube, which currently dominates the podcast video space. Several iHeartMedia shows involved in the deal had previously posted video versions of their podcasts on YouTube.

Lauren Smith, Netflix’s Vice President of Content Licensing and Programming Strategy, said the partnership will offer members “unmatched variety” and showcase “some of the world’s most dynamic personalities.”

The announcement builds on Netflix’s broader podcast strategy. In October, the company revealed plans to stream 16 Spotify video podcasts in 2026, including The Bill Simmons Podcast and The Ringer Fantasy Football Show.

The timing reflects shifting audience habits. According to a Cumulus Media study, roughly 70% of podcast listeners prefer shows with video, and some podcasts command massive followings. My Favorite Murder, for example, has generated approximately 2 billion lifetime downloads, according to iHeart and Netflix.

Additional podcasts joining Netflix through the deal include comedy show This Is Important, mental health podcast The Psychology of Your 20s, and history-focused Behind the Bastards.

Importantly, iHeartMedia will retain audio-only rights and distribution, meaning all podcasts will continue to be available on iHeartRadio and other podcast platforms. iHeartMedia CEO Bob Pittman described the partnership as a natural extension of the company’s audio dominance, giving fans “one more way to connect with the personalities they love” while introducing the shows to new audiences.
