New Crime Scene Response Vehicles to Boost Belize’s Forensic Service

Two new crime scene response vehicles are joining the National Forensic Science Service’s fleet. The Ministry of Finance handed over the fully equipped vehicles today to help technicians reach scenes across Belize more quickly and preserve evidence before it is lost or contaminated. The service’s Executive Director, Gian Cho, says trained personnel are essential, but they also need reliable transportation to get to a scene and begin documenting and collecting evidence. The additional vehicles are expected to improve coverage and reduce response times, particularly when technicians are called to incidents outside their usual areas.  Cho says the investment forms part of the Government’s efforts to strengthen forensic investigations and the criminal justice system. The National Forensic Science Service says the vehicles will enter service immediately, supporting crime scene responses nationwide.
