Vice Chairman of the Musson Group, Melanie Subratie, has been named the new chairman of Jampro, a state agency tasked with the responsibility of enticing foreign businesses to Jamaica.
Subratie took up the position on Monday, July 25, less than two weeks after the boss of the GraceKennedy conglomerate Don Wehby gave up the role on July 15.
“Melanie is an astute business leader, with an impressive career spanning 20 years of both operational and strategic roles in insurance, information technology, telcom, food distribution and manufacturing,” said Minister of Industry Commerce & Investment Senator Aubyn Hill in a statement announcing her appointment.
The Musson Group, which has tentacles across the hemisphere, is itself privately held but some of its businesses are publicly traded, including Stanley Motta Limited, a provider of real estate space for business process outsourcing firms that Subratie leads as chairman and CEO.
