Political commentator, Dr. Nadeen Spence, says she expects finance minister, Dr. Nigel Clarke, to address the challenges facing Jamaicans at the base of the society when he opens the Budget Debate.
The finance minister will open the 2024/2025 Budget Debate in the House of Representatives on Tuesday. Dr. Clarke will outline how the Holness administration will fund the $1.3 trillion budget tabled in the House two weeks ago.
Dr. Spence says the finance minister should also focus on how the government can improve service delivery for some of its programmes.
She cited the PATH Programme as one area which requires attention.

Meanwhile, President of the Micro, Small, and Medium Size Enterprise, MSME Alliance, Donovan Wignall, says he believes the looming general election will impact the budget presented by the finance minister.
Mr. Wignall says he’s hopeful the finance minister will address financing options for small businesses.
