Nicaraguan Doctor Faces Trial for Alleged Drink Spiking in Belize City

A Nicaraguan Doctor Carlos Alberto Saborio Coze is on trial today in court number 1 for the allegation of spiking a male nurse drink. 50-year-old Saborio  of 3.5 miles Philip Goldson Highway, Belize City, was initially charged back in December 2024 for administering noxious substances to a male colleague. The accusation came from a Venezuelan nurse who says he was drinking with Coze at Little John’s Restaurant in Belize City and briefly left his drink unattended.He alleged that Coze slipped something into his drink, causing him to wake up at home several days later with no memory of how he got there.

The trial has commenced against Doctor Carlos Alberto Saborio Coze today; however, the case is going straight into a voir daire, tomorrow at 9 am. Saborio Coze’s attorney, Richard “Dickie” Bradley, is challenging how certain information was obtained by the police against his client. Today’s trial was before the Chief Magistrate, Deborah Rogers.
