Nicki Minaj is making headlines for a rare political exchange with former U.S. President Donald Trump and U.S. Ambassador Mike Waltz after she publicly praised Trump for his post condemning Christian persecution in Nigeria.
In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), Trump declared that “Christianity is facing an existential threat in Nigeria,” citing thousands of Christian deaths allegedly caused by radical Islamist attacks. He announced that Nigeria would be designated a “Country of Particular Concern” and called on Congress to investigate the crisis.
“The United States cannot stand by while such atrocities are happening in Nigeria,” Trump wrote. “We stand ready, willing, and able to save our great Christian population around the world.”
Minaj responded to Trump’s statement with a heartfelt message reflecting on religious freedom and compassion:
“Reading this made me feel a deep sense of gratitude. We live in a country where we can freely worship God. No group should ever be persecuted for practicing their religion. Numerous countries around the world are being affected by this horror and it’s dangerous to pretend we don’t notice,” she wrote.
“Thank you to The President & his team for taking this seriously. God bless every persecuted Christian. Let’s remember to lift them up in prayer.”
Her remarks quickly went viral, drawing praise from Christian leaders and politicians alike. Among them was Ambassador Mike Waltz, who replied directly to Minaj’s post thanking her for “using her platform to speak out in defense of the Christians being persecuted in Nigeria.”
“We cannot allow this to continue. Every brother and sister of Christ must band together and say, ‘Enough!’” Waltz said. “If you ever find yourself in New York, come by the U.S. Embassy to the United Nations. I would love to speak with you in more depth about what our administration is doing to protect Christians’ freedoms all over the world.”
Minaj later replied:
“I’d be honored. Thank you, Ambassador.”
The exchange has sparked significant conversation online — not only about the humanitarian crisis in Nigeria but also about Minaj’s evolving public voice on faith, freedom, and global issues.
