Jamaica quarter-miler, Nikisha Pryce, says she surprised herself with the record breaking performance at the NC-Double-A National Outdoor Championships at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon, on the Weekend.
The former Vere Tech star posted 48-point-89 seconds to win the women’s 400-metres final, breaking Lorraine Fenton’s 22 year old national record of 49.30.
The time is also a collegiate record and was the world lead before Sydney McClaughlin replaced it at the New York Grand Prix a day later
Pryce’s achievement helped the University of Arkansas to win the national women’s title.
