Coach of the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons CPL Franchise Paul Nixon has accused Cricket West Indies of being “disrespectful” and “unprofessional”.
Nixon’s rant came as a result of allrounder Justin Greaves’ unavailability to play due to injury.
Greaves has not played in any of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) matches to date and has not played any cricket since the West Indies series win against Pakistan at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy, a little over two weeks ago.
Nixon says he was disappointed that they’ve had no communication with Cricket West Indies that Greaves came to them injured and that they only found out just before a game.
he said for him that was a bit unprofessional and disrespectful.
However former T&T Red Force head coach David Furlonge disagreed with Nixon.
He did not put the responsibility on the regional body to inform the franchise of the cricketer’s availability.
Furlonge says it’s up to the player if he is injured to say so.
He says most players have agents who organise the day-to-day business for the players, including informing teams of their availabilities.
