6 months ago 27

Opposition Leader Mark Golding continues to face an uphill climb in winning over female voters.

Forty-one per cent of them rate his job performance as average. Twenty per cent say it has been good, but 39 per cent of women say Golding has been poor as opposition leader.

That 39 per cent is seven percentage points higher than the 32 per cent of men who also say Golding has been doing a poor job.

Forty per cent of men say Golding has been average at his job, while 27 per cent say he’s doing a good job. That good rating from men is seven percentage points higher than women were prepared to give.

When it comes to age, older voters appeared more likely to view Golding’s performance favourably.

In fact, the strongest support for the job he’s been doing over the last four years was among voters in the age group 55-to-64 years, where 34 per cent say he’s done a good job. That’s followed by voters over 65 years where 33 per cent also say Golding has done a good job.

Young voters have significant levels of ambivalence about Golding’s job performance.

Fifty per cent of voters in the 18-to-24 age group say Golding has been average at his job.

Thirty-one per cent of this cohort say the opposition leader has been poor at his job, while 18 per cent say he’s been doing a good job.

The Nationwide/Bluedot polls powered by Total Tools were conducted between January 21 and February 1. The polls were conducted among 1,500 respondents. It has a margin of error of +/- 2.5 per cent.
