The wait is over, as the Sterling Gospel Music Awards (SGMA) 2025 has officially announced its nominees. At the top of the list is gospel star Johnmark Wiggan, who has emerged as this year’s front-runner with an impressive eight nominations.
Wiggan’s standout year includes multiple collaborations and solo successes that have captured the hearts of gospel fans across the island and the region. His powerful single “Confidence,” and collaborations “Nuh More Dan Wi” (with Prince Saj), and “Champion” (with Kevin Downswell) have each secured nominations, highlighting both his versatility and influence on the local gospel scene.
Meanwhile, the talented Sebastian Braham and Prince Saj, each secured four nominations. Braham’s deeply personal project, Fight This Battle For Me, is in the running for EP of the Year, while his stirring collaboration with Petra Kaye on “Yes He Did” has also gained recognition. Saj, known for his commanding stage presence and inspiring lyrical style, earned nods in major categories including Male Artist of the Year.
Jamaica’s most beloved gospel artiste, Kevin Downswell, and the praise and worship talent Petra Kaye both earned three nominations each. Downswell, one of Jamaica’s most beloved gospel voices, is recognized for his motivational anthem “My Year” and his collaboration with Wiggan on “Champion.”

Petra Kaye, meanwhile, has made her mark with her soaring performance on “Yes He Did,” proving she is a powerful force among the female nominees.

The 2025 Sterling Gospel Music Awards promises to be more than just a ceremony, as it is shaping up to be a grand celebration of artistry, faith, and culture. The organizer and founder, Basillia Barnaby-Cuff, says this year will be more glamorous and will again have a red carpet experience, a special glam cam, and an exclusive Elite Food Lounge for guests; additionally, this year’s staging is expected to set a new standard for gospel entertainment in Jamaica.
The awards will take place on Saturday, October 4, at Emmanuel Apostolic Church in Portmore, where the best in gospel music will gather for a night of praise, performance, and recognition.

All eyes are now on who will walk away as the biggest winners of the 2025 Sterling Gospel Music Awards.
