North-Central cops seize marijuana, ecstasy and molly

An Arouca man has pleaded guilty after being charged with possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking, days after police found marijuana, ecstasy and molly at his home.

Police said officers of the North Central Division Task Force Area East, the Arouca CID and the Police Canine Unit went to a house on Thomas Trace last Friday afternoon.

While searching the home, officers found a quantity of marijuana in plastic wrapping, ecstasy pills and packets containing the drug 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine, also known as “molly”.

Police arrested the man and charged him with possession of marijuana, possession of ecstasy for the purpose of trafficking and possession of molly for the purpose of trafficking.

He appeared before a Master of the Court on Monday, where he pleaded guilty to the charges.

The exercise was overseen by ACP Singh, Snr Supt Vernly Gift and Supt Jaikaran, and coordinated by ASP Sunil Bharath, ASP Pierre, Insp Peters and Sgt Sean Bedase, with supervision from Cpl Forde.

Data from the TTPS Crime and Problem Analysis (CAPA) branch showed that 1.7 grams of ecstasy were seized compared with 200.1 grams and 187 pills in 2024, while 182.88 grams and 1,036 pills were seized in 2025.

In terms of methamphetamine seizures, police said 540 grams were seized in 2023, while only ten pills were confiscated in 2024 and 251.13 grams were seized in 2025.
