Old Cotton Bank Notes Will Not Be Legal Tender Effective July 1

The Bank of Jamaica, BOJ is advising the public that effective Tuesday, July 1, 2025, the old cotton banknotes will no longer be legal tender,

That is, the bank notes should no longer be accepted as payment for goods and services.

Cash transactions should be conducted using the new polymer banknotes which have been in circulation since June 2023.

People can use the old banknotes only at the Bank of Jamaica and select commercial banks.
