One Charged, Three Sought in Jamir Cambranes Murder Case

Police have now made a breakthrough in last week’s brutal killing of 19-year-old Jamir Cambranes, with one suspect formally charged, while three others remain at large.  Investigators confirmed that 19-year-old Kenrick Lindbergh Robinson has been arrested, arraigned, and remanded to prison in connection with Cambranes’ murder. Robinson, a construction worker of Laura Dunn Street in Belize City, was taken before the Magistrate’s Court earlier today, where he was read a single charge of murder. Due to the seriousness of the offense, no plea was taken, and he has been remanded until June 22.  The development comes just six days after Cambranes was lured from his Euphrates Avenue home and later found dead in a bushy area along the Burrell Boom/Hattieville Road.  Police say their case is being built on a trail of digital and video evidence left behind by the victim in his final hours. Surveillance footage reportedly captured Cambranes arriving at Robinson’s residence on a bicycle on the night of April 21. Minutes later, he was seen entering a silver Chevrolet Equinox along with Robinson and two other men. That vehicle was last seen heading out of Belize City toward Ladyville.  Investigators also confirmed that Cambranes had sent a WhatsApp image of the vehicle’s license plate and shared his location shortly before his disappearance, critical details that ultimately helped police track his movements and piece together the sequence of events.  Further footage reportedly shows Robinson returning home later that night on the victim’s bicycle, strengthening the case against him.  Authorities have since impounded the vehicle and recovered what they describe as “useful evidential material,” including blood swabs, as part of their ongoing forensic analysis.  While Robinson is now behind bars, police say at least three additional suspects, believed to have been inside the vehicle that night, including the driver, are still being sought.  ASP Stacy Smith says that despite the arrest, investigators are still working to determine a clear motive behind the killing.

Stacy Smith, Assistant Superintendent of Police: “As a consequence of the ongoing investigation into the murder of 19 year old Jamir Cambranes which occurred on 22nd April 2026, police have formally arrested and charged 19 year old Kenrick Robinson of Belize City for the crime of murder. Police are seeking three more male persons in connection with this investigation. No clear motive has been established however I can say that this arrest and the other impending arrests are substantiated by footage that have been retrieved from the crime fusion center and as I indicated on the last occasion the processing of both the scene and the vehicle also aided in the investigation.”

Police have also confirmed that the SUV used in the murder was rented from a resident of Burrell Boom Village, Belize District.
