Almost one week after two men were arrested in connection with the murder of 22-year-old Trevorn Walker, police have released one suspect and expect to lay charges against the other.
Sources say this comes following days of questioning and ongoing investigation.
Both men — ages 38 and 42 — were held last Tuesday during an intelligence-led operation in the Signal Hill area. At the time, police said the arrests came through a “collaborated effort.”
Walker was ambushed and shot dead around 2.30 am on July 29, while driving a silver Axio along Highland Road in Moriah. Police said another vehicle blocked his path, forcing him to stop. He jumped out and ran into nearby bushes, raising an alarm. Gunshots were heard shortly after.
His body was later found motionless in the bushes on the eastern side of the road. He was pronounced dead at 6 am.
Trevorn’s father, Clifton Walker, had told Guardian Media his son was not involved in gangs or drugs. Fighting through tears, he described Trevorn as a kind, joke-loving young man and his only son. He believes the murder may have stemmed from a personal dispute over a woman, but said he is not seeking revenge, only justice. “God give life and God take life,” he said. “You do my son injustice… but remember, God watching .”
Snr Supt Earl Elie have confirmed the killing was not gang or drug-related, but likely the result of a personal dispute.
The investigation remains active.
