PHOTO COURTESY TTPS - TTPSTHE TTPS has declared the Operation Trident anti-crime initiative undertaken over the weekend, as a sucess, resulting in several arrests, seizure of marijuana and the seizure of a firearm. The operation took palce across Southern Division on Saturday and Sunday.
Around 7.50 pm on Saturday, officers of the division's Operations Unit intercepted a black Nissan AD Wagon along the Southern Main Road in La Romain after receiving intel. A search led to the discovery of a rectangular package containing approximately 1.2 kilograms of compressed cannabis.
Three occupants were arrested and are expected to be charged with possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking.
Throughout the day, the Southern Division Task Force (SDTF) conducted co-ordinated operations across Marabella, Gasparillo and Princes Town, focused on locations known to be associated with illegal activity and were carried out with the assistance of K9 units.
At Rahamut Trace, Woodland, officers discovered a Beretta pistol loaded with two rounds of 9mm ammunition, hidden beneath a tree. No arrest was made.
A 52-year-old man was arrested for possession of camouflage clothing, while a 19-year-old man was detained for possession of cocaine weighing two grams.
Later on Saturday, between 8 pm and midnight, officers in the San Fernando district conducted anti-crime patrols targeting high-crime areas, suspicious vehicles and priority offenders. These efforts resulted in the detention of seven individuals for various immigrationrelated offences.
On Sunday, between 1 pm and 4 pm, officers in the San Fernando arrested two men for washing a vehicle on a public roadway and obstructing the free passage of road users.
