Opposition Leader breaks with tradition on Christmas message

For the first time in recent history, Belize’s Leader of the Opposition and United Democratic Party (UDP) Leader, Tracy Taegar Panton, did not deliver a pre-recorded Christmas message to the nation during the holiday season.  Traditionally, both the Prime Minister and the Leader of the Opposition issue televised or recorded Christmas messages addressing the country. However, this year, no such recorded address was aired from the Opposition Leader.  Love News reached out to Panton to inquire whether she would be producing a Christmas message for broadcast but received no response up to news time.  Instead, Panton issued a digital Christmas flyer, which circulated online, extending holiday well wishes to Belizeans. The message conveyed wishes of peace, hope, and unity during the Christmas season and called on Belizeans to continue working together for a better country.  The flyer was issued in her capacity as UDP Party Leader and Leader of the Opposition and marks a departure from the long-standing practice of delivering a formal Christmas address via traditional broadcast platforms.  Political observers note that while digital messaging has become increasingly common, the absence of a recorded Christmas address from the Opposition Leader is unusual and represents a notable shift in how national holiday messages are being communicated.
