Orange Walk Bus Lines Propose Fare Hike Without Department of Transport Approval

Several bus operators out of the Orange Walk District are looking to increase their bus fares come August 4.  Over the weekend, a notice was published online indicating that there will be new bus prices with a different rate for regular commuters and the one-off customers.  The bus lines include Tillett Bus Line, R Tillett Bus Line, A Tillett Bus Line, A Tillett Senior Bus Line, Sart V Line, D&J Guinea Grass Trans Service and LIMTD (Limited) Bus Service. Under the new pricing scheme, fares will go up by a dollar for regular customers and by two dollars for non-regular commuters. The new structure will see daily commuters paying $7 from Orange Walk to Belize City, while one-off customers will pay $8. The new scheme affects various villagers from the areas of August Pine Ridge, San Lazaro, Yo Creek, Carmelita, and Guinea Grass. Up to news time tonight, it is unclear if the new prices would take effect as Love News has confirmed that these bus lines did not get the required approval from the Department of Transportation (DOT).  Our newsroom will keep following this story.
