Orange Walk Family Seeks Urgent Help for Daughter’s Life-Changing Surgery

An Orange Walk family is racing against time to raise the money needed for their three-year-old daughter to undergo surgery in Chetumal, Mexico.  Little Raquel Quinones is scheduled to have the procedure tomorrow at Clínica Carranza. Her parents, Sonia Abigail Pat and Roberto Carlos Quinones, say she recently lost her ability to hear and speak because of her illness.  The surgery is expected to cost approximately five thousand Belize dollars. With the procedure quickly approaching, the family is appealing for donations to help cover Raquel’s medical expenses.  Her father spoke about how the little girl has been coping as the family prepares for the surgery.

Father: “Even with this problem that she has my baby is a very active child. You know maybe because she does not know her situation since she is a baby but probably when she gets bigger she will probably have some questions or somethings about it. For now she just laughs but when the pain comes at night she cries, she cries a lot due to the fact that she can’t breathe. Mostly in the night when she goes to sleep she has some problems breathing. That is the reason they told us that she needs the operation. The doctor told us that she needs that operation.”

The family has organized a fundraiser and says every contribution, regardless of the amount, will help them get Raquel the treatment she urgently needs.  Donations can be deposited into Atlantic Bank account number 2120026161, in the name of Roberto Carlos Quinones.  Contributions can also be made through Belize Bank account number 285-564-070-76-0000, in the name of Sonia Abigail Pat.  Anyone wishing to assist or obtain more information can contact the family at 620-6450
